Chalet Sotciastel is a historic property renovated and brought back to life in 2020. This is the chalet for those looking for a relaxing and peaceful retreat where you can unwind surrounded by nature in an authentic alpine and working farm setting. In the winter you can go skiing, ice skating, cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, while in summer there is hiking, climbing, horse riding or mountain biking.
The Sotciastel chalet and farm is located on a small plateau above Sankt Leonard, with a view over the valley as far as the Marmolada glacier and orientated for the sun from morning to evening on the meadows and hills. Here it is easy to switch off the phone for a while to indulge in this feeling of the simple life. Those who are looking for peace, nature and the authentic will not forget this piece of earth.
The chalet is arranged over four floors and can accommodate up to 11 guests. The design of the house and the furnishings underline the historical style where natural materials and colours match with the original furniture and wood panelling. The first floor of the chalet is home to the communal living spaces with a living room, dining room, kitchen, as well as a cloakroom and guest toilet.
Delicious breakfasts will be prepared in the open kitchen every morning and tea and cake in the afternoon all served in the dining room with traditional stube fireplace, or on the veranda next to the kitchen. The kitchen is available for guests the rest of the time for preparing home cooking. Next door to the dining room is the living room with TV and a large comfortable sofa to snuggle up on.
The six bedrooms area arranged across the top two floors and are full of natural materials and fabrics along with large beds and well-appointed modern bathrooms. On the second floor is a family suite with double bedroom and single bedroom, both with access to a Jack & Jill shower room. The remaining four double bedrooms are spacious with breathtaking views from the balconies and windows.
On the lowest level of the chalet is a space dedicated to wellness with a large relaxation area with loungers along with a sauna. This is a space where you can simply unwind from the outside world. For those who prefer their spa facilities with a view, then head outside and sink into the hot tub and enjoy the panoramic views down the valley and of the surrounding meadows and mountains.
During the winter ski season, a daily shuttle service is included so that it is easy and stress free to access the ski slopes. The village of Badia is a 5-minute drive away and where you can access the local La Crusc / Santa Croce ski area. This is one of the most panoramic spots in the Dolomites and features 5km of slopes for beginner skiing, freeride skiing, 8 mountain huts for dining as well as non-skiing activities.
Alternatively, you can access the skiing from the Pradüc chairlift using the chalet’s shuttle service and connect into the wider Sella Ronda ski area from Badia over to La Villa. This means you can access the huge amount of ski slopes of the Alta Badia region as well as the Sella Ronda ski circuit.
The peaceful village of Badia, located at an altitude of 1,324m, has successfully retained its rural local Ladin tradition and architecture. In the village is the beautiful rococo-style parish church of St. Leonhard, whilst located at 2,045 metres is the picturesque La Crusc – Santa Croce sanctuary reachable by the ski lifts. The village also offers bars, restaurants, supermarket and ski shop for all your winter holiday needs.
Chalet Sotciastel is available to rent on a bed & breakfast basis including daily housekeeping and daily return shuttle service to the ski slopes. The chalet is priced for up to 10 guests, with an additional charge for the 11th guest. Additional services, such as a pre-arrival grocery shop, private traditional dinner service and massage treatments can all be arranged.
