The start of a New Year is a time for resolutions, new plans and looking forward, but to get there we have the excitement and enjoyment of celebrating. In the Alps this means a huge party!
What better way to bring in the New Year than being surrounded by friends and family in a stunning mountain setting. Here we take a look at some of the biggest and most spectacular parties in some of our favourite ski resorts, that will have us all dancing and singing along to welcome in 2016.
Courchevel in France
The exclusive resort of Courchevel 1850 lays on its own dance party on New Years Eve. The area in front of the main lift station of the Croisette is turned into a large snow covered dance floor and an eclectic choice of music, from house to techno and electro dance is played out to the content of your dancing feet. Courchevel does not hold back on the expense when it comes to fireworks, with one of the best displays around on the stroke of midnight. The party starts at 22:30 and continues into the early hours until 02:30 with GJ Lasse your DJ throughout.
Tignes in France
This is one party that is sure to bring in the change of year with real energy. The ski resort of Tignes has teamed up with French radio station RTL2 to get you dancing to some of the greatest pop rock records or all time. Starting at 11pm in Tignes Le Lac in from of the Maison de Tignes, slip on your moonboots and winter coat, grab your friends and get set to enjoy a party surrounded by the snow covered peaks in this natural amphitheatre. With a giant fireworks display at midnight and music until 1am, the memories will last for a long time.
St Anton in Austria
The fantastic ski resorts of St Anton and Lech share the same Arlberg lift pass but offer a markedly difference New Year experience. St Anton is the king of après ski and this exuberance is even more evident at New Year. The car free centre of the resort is where everyone mingles and dances the night away with champagne and spectacular fireworks. The party then continues into the small hours in some of the resorts legendary après ski bars and clubs.
Lech in Austria
In Lech, the centrepiece of the celebrations is the acoustic fireworks display. Uniquely choreographed fireworks explode and fizz in tune and sync with music. For 2015/16 celebrations, the theme is Rock Classics, with music from Billy Idol, AC/DC and Van Halen amongst other.
Verbier in Switzerland
The centre of attraction in Verbier at New Years is the Place Centrale in the middle of resort. Thousands of holidaymakers and locals congregate here and at around 11pm the music starts, the party gets crazy and the countdown begins. Bring your own bottle of fizz and when the clock hits 12, the whole town resembles a formula 1 podium with celebratory champagne being sprayed everywhere.
