Chalet Woodpecker is a ski in chalet in Alpe d’Huez. Sitting alongside its sister ‘Chalet Nightingale’, this modern chalet has an excellent location in this high-altitude ski resort. Located on the Avenue de l’Eclose, at the southernmost part of the main village, the resort centre is only a 5 minute walk away.
The chalet is located just across from the slopes, so every morning you can step straight onto the piste. For beginners, the chalet is only a 3 minute walk from the Telecentre lift, leading to the nursery area and main lifts. The chalet sits on Avenue de l’Eclose and is only a 5 minute walk from the resort centre of Alpe d’Huez.
From the Chalet the easiest access for all levels to the piste is either via the lift Alpe Express or via the Telecentre Cabine – both just a few minutes’ walk from the Chalet, this is the easiest, quickest way to access both the piste at Bergers and Grands Rousse. You can ski back down to just beside the Alpe Express, under the Telecentre Cabine although it can be narrow in places and dependant on snow conditions.
The interior features lots of light-wood panelling with a light, airy and homely feel. The chalet is arranged over three floors and sleeps up to 15 guests. The open plan living spaces are on the first floor, with the 7 en-suite bedrooms spread between the ground and first floors. On the ground floor there is also a ski room with heated boot dryers and on the lower ground floor a wellness area with indoor hot tub and sauna shared with Chalet Nightingale.
For those driving to resort, there are four car parking spaces located in front of the chalet which are shared between Chalet Woodpecker and Chalet Nightingale. Please speak to the team to confirm how many spaces are available. There is free WIFI access throughout the chalet, perfect if you want to spend a relaxing evening streaming your favourite series, or you need to do some work whilst you’re away.
The chalet is perfect for a large group of friends or several families looking to holiday together, and if you do need more rooms, then it can be booked together with neighbouring Chalet Nightingale.
The chalet is available on a self-catered basis, but it is also possible to add in a contactless catered package. If booked on a contactless catered package the supplies you’ll need for breakfast every morning, afternoon snacks, pre-dinner nibbles and dinner for six evenings are provided in your chalet for you to cook and enjoy at a time of your choosing.
