Granite Mountain Estate is a striking ski chalet in the heart of Chamonix, the mountain adventure capital of the world. This luxurious haven provides a sanctuary of comfort and style from where to base your alpine holiday. The chalet perfectly combines beautiful living areas with unbeatable views, generous sized bedrooms, and first-class spa and entertainment facilities.
The estate, sleeping up to 20 guests, is made up of one large chalet and a smaller annexe located next door. The chalet is arranged over the three floors all connected by both stairs and an elevator. Offering a huge floor area of 670m2, the chalet can sleep up to 12-14 guests in six en-suite bedrooms. The annexe offers an additional 80m2 of space and can sleep up to 4-6 guests in three bedrooms.
The heart of the main chalet is the stunning open plan living rooms, which are arranged across the middle floor. The lounge, with its valued timber ceiling, offers plentiful seating and views onto the Bossons glacier. Natural light floods this space through the huge picture windows which makes it feel like you can almost touch the mountains.
A glass fronted fireplace divides the living room from the dining area which is a more intimate space. Here you can enjoy fresh breakfasts and evening dinner parties all prepared by the chef. The semi-open kitchen, with additional breakfast bar, overlooks the dining table. The dining room opens out onto a balcony and terrace, which are great spots for a pre-dinner drink in the evenings.
The other half of the middle floor is given over to rejuvenation and family fun. Located just behind the living room is a dedicated 30m2 cinema room with L-shape sofa and pull-down projector screen. To the rear you step into the spa with 8x4m indoor swimming pool with counter current system, glass fronted sauna, shower and fitness room than can be converted into a massage room.
Heading up stairs and there are three double or twin bedrooms plus the master bedroom, all offering a differing view of the valley. One of these bedrooms is also adapted for wheelchair use. The final room on the top floor is a dedicated office with a view overlooking the living room below.
Taking the elevator down to the ground floor and the final two bedrooms are tucked away off the hallway along from the main entrance. There is a further double/twin bedroom, and the final room offers great flexibility as it can be arranged with either a double, twin, or quad bunk perfect for 4 children. The ski room has direct access to the garage, and there is plentiful storage for all your mountain equipment and clothing.
Next door the annexe has an open plan living area with seating area, dining table and kitchenette. On the lower level are two twin/double bedrooms, one with en-suite facilities. Upstairs on the mezzanine is a further sleeping area with a sofa bed, and this room shares a separate shower room with one of the bedrooms on the lower level.
Step outside and you will discover a private garden that invites both adventure and relaxation alike. Challenge yourself on the exclusive rock-climbing wall or simply unwind surrounded by nature and be warmed by the cosy fire pit. All this can be enjoyed set against the breathtaking panorama of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix valley.
Chamonix offers not only a huge amount of skiing but also a whole valley load of adventures to enjoy. This is what makes Chamonix one of the best resorts not only for dedicated mountain lovers but also for groups with non-skiers. Enjoy a panoramic train ride, head up the Aiguille du Midi cable car to the dizzying heights of 3,842m, or try paragliding or snowshoeing to name but a few.
The skiing is separated into four distinct ski areas which can all be accessed via the chalet’s in-resort driver service. At either end of the valley are Les Houches and Le Tour, which are best suited to beginners and intermediates. Located above the resort centre is Brévent-Flégère, which offers a wide variety of slopes with stunning views over the valley and Mont Blanc.
Chamonix is well known for its advanced skiing and is on the must ski list for every off-piste thrill-seeker. The fourth ski area in the valley, Grand Montets, rises above the village of Argentiere, and is the place to head for steep slopes and testing descents.
The famous Vallee Blanche, a 23km descent from the Aiguille du Midi, incorporates open slopes and bowls, and navigates through seracs and crevasses, so a mountain guide is essential for this one!
The town of Chamonix is a 6-minute drive or 20-minute walk away and offers a large and wide variety of boutiques, shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. As a year-round destination the resort is always buzzing, especially at après ski time when the centre fills with skiers after the lifts close.
For smaller groups, Granite Mountain Estate can be rented without the additional annexe to create the Granite Mountain Lodge which can sleep up to 12-14 guests.
Granite Mountain Lodge is available to rent on a fully catered or self-catered basis.
