St Martin de Belleville Luxury Ski Chalets
Unspoilt and charming, St Martin de Belleville delivers a gourmet ski holiday experience in the 3 Vallées.
St Martin de Belleville is a beautiful, tranquil and authentic Savoyard village; with its commanding church tower which overlooks the narrow winding streets and stone clad farms, whose doors open onto vaulted stables. It is known locally as the hidden jewel in the 3 Vallées ski area for good reason. Accommodation has been transformed from the old farm buildings to create an assortment of cosy, individual hideaways.
The ski slopes above St Martin wind their way gently down the mountain offering the perfect environment for beginners and the wide snow covered field’s ideal for those first turns in powder. The Belleville valley in which St Martin is located is home to half of the 3 Valleys 600km of ski slopes, with the local pistes ideally suited to intermediate cruising.
The resort sits at an altitude of 1,450m and the top of the Belleville valley reaches 3300m; coupled with over 2,000 snow cannons in the 3 Valleys ski area, it is safe to say that the resort is fairly snow-sure.
Access to the expanse of the 3 Vallées is fast, with Méribel and Reberty both just 2 ski lifts away and access to Courchevel and Val Thorens requiring just 1 or 2 further lifts to reach. There are large areas of gentle off piste down from the Méribel ridge or if you like your slopes steeper head to the La Masse sector. After your days skiing, you have the joyful feeling that you get to return to the magic of St Martin each evening.
There are two spas to visit locally, one in the village and one at La Bouitte in nearby St Marcel. The village spa includes access to its swimming pool, gym, sauna and Jacuzzis with any treatment. If you are looking for some activities away from the snow then in nearby Les Menuires there is a sports centre and swimming pool and a cinema for those who just want to take it easy.
Aside from skiing and snowboarding, there are plenty of activities to keep visitors busy in and around St Martin de Belleville. The Belleville Valley offers a protected environment for those eager to hike and snowshoe and throughout the winter season you can try dog sleigh riding along the river from St Martin de Belleville. Whilst for those who love or are eager to try their hand at cross-country skiing, there are 28kms of marked slopes.
For a resort of its size, St Martin de Belleville has a good number of bars and pubs though no nightclub. One of the favourite après ski/evening destinations is the relaxed and cosy P Bar, with its open fire and chilled atmosphere. For some après ski immediately off the slopes then Le Dahlia has to be a great choice and situated conveniently at the front-de-neige. The most famous of the local restaurants has to be the 2 Michelin starred La Bouitte in the neighbouring village of St Marcel and delivered in a fantastic modern farmhouse setting.
